Benefits Of Pet
Therapy For Abused, Neglected and At-Risk Children
Get out your beachwear and make
plans to bask in the sun at the 10th annual Gabriel’s Angels Doggie Beach Party,
Sat., Feb. 27, 2010, 10 a.m. at the Franciscan Renewal Center.
The 2010 Gabriel’s Angels Doggie
Beach Party is just that; fun in the Arizona sun! Dress up your dog in their best beachwear or bathing suit
and take home the title of Best Doggie Beachwear. Other contests include Doggie Limbo, Best Dog Costume and
the ever-popular Dog/Owner Look Alike contest. There will be tons of activities and games for the kids,
live entertainment and this year’s event boasts over 30 vendors and exhibitors.
“The Beach Party is a fun day for
our families,” says Pam Gaber, president and founder of Gabriel’s Angels. “There aren’t many events where you can
bring your dogs and your kids and entertain them both at the same time. Dogs can offer so much more than
companionship. We hope people will
learn a bit more about Gabriel’s Angels and the progress we’ve made in the
community with abused and neglected children. These children find unconditional
love and acceptance from our pets, something most of them have never
experienced.”
Gabriel’s Angels is a nonprofit organization
whose mission is to deliver healing pet therapy to abused, neglected and
at-risk children, nurturing their ability to love and trust, thereby freeing
them from the cycle of violence. Pet Therapy teams are owners and their dogs
that visit facilities serving abused and at-risk children in the Phoenix and
Tucson metropolitan areas. These
visits provide children with unconditional love and teach children compassion,
nurturance and trust. The Therapy
Dogs lift children’s spirits, give them hope, and provide safe and
unconditional acceptance.
The 2010 event is Saturday, February
27, 2010 at the Franciscan Renewal Center, 5802 E. Lincoln Drive in Scottsdale
on the East Lawn. The festivities
will commence at 10 a.m. until noon.
Families are encouraged to attend with or without their friendly canine family
members. Admission is $20 for
adults, $10 for children 6-12 and 5 and under is FREE. There is ample on-site parking. For more information on the Gabriel’s Angels
